Moving Tips

Here we go again! Either you just got a new job relocation, bought that new house, or maybe your military and it’s time to be relocated. We all know what that means, time to pack up and move. Moving can be a hassle and if it’s your first time there’s so much to prepare for. Moving maybe stressful to some but not all. Some actually enjoy the rush of packing their life up for a new start. Planning a move takes a lot of patience and focus. If you’re not a great prioritize as of yet, you may want to get on board with a few tips we have to help plan and prepare your move successfully. Many may be asking where you start.

How about a to-do list to start things off. If we can sit down and think about everything we are going to need to do with this move preparation, then maybe we can assign and prioritize an order to completing the to-do list. Now we know where to start.

Once you are about six to eight weeks out from your move you should start deciding what you will be taking to your new location. Moving is a chance for a new clean start. Consider having a garage sell to get rid of the items you’re not taking.

Now you need to decide what moving company you will be using. Start making phone calls and getting quotes. There are a few questions you might want to ask. To name a few: Make sure the estimate they give you is binding or not. Ask if they are a member of the Better Business Bureau. Lastly, ask if they have any references. You don’t want just anyone packing and shipping your household goods. Start collecting storage and moving boxes. Even trash bags will come in handy. Most moving companies will provide boxes, but better to be prepared.

You may want to start thinking about the layout of your new home and where you want to put everything. This way as you are packing you can separate everything into rooms as necassary to ease the unpacking process. Also start to request information regarding the new community. Request information on Miami Schools, parks, and any local activities.

Lastly, make sure all your travel arrangements are made. Be prepared whether you are driving or flying changes are to be expected. Be prepared for delays and have a plan. Make sure as you go through your to-do list and start making purchases for supplies or paying the moving company you document everything and keep receipts. Remember moving can be stressful but starting a to-do list and prioritizing your tasks will help ease the process.
